Gluten-free buckwheat banana bread.

It all started with three ripe bananas, two hungry kids, and one frustrated mother. Have you ever walked around the kitchen opening the fridge and pantry like ten times in a search of something yummy to eat but despite thoroughly investigating the contents of every corner of the kitchen haven't found anything that would satisfy your craving for something that you don't even know what it is that you're craving for?

Restorative Yoga for Better Sleep

Is an overactive mind, stress, or aches in the body preventing you to have a good quality sleep?

I'm a mother of two, a yoga teacher, an entrepreneur, and a wife whose daily life oftentimes is rather busy and hectic. I used to sleep very badly mostly because of stress and constant thoughts and worries running through my mind day in and day out. It was only when I started to intensively study and practice yoga asana (the physical poses), meditation, and breathing that I managed to calm my brain and my nervous system before going to bed. This made a huge difference in my sleep quality! Well, this and creating myself a calming evening routine.

The Highlights of 2022

What a year it was! Despite all the sad events in the world, in my personal life the year 2022 wasn't that bad in the end. There were tough moments, feelings of uncertainty, one canceled vacation, and too many days spent in bed with the flu. However, there were also moments of joy, excitement, happiness, adventure, growth, and laughter. In February it felt like the whole world is gonna come crashing down but after dwelling in the misery of the world (spiced up with a flu) for enough time, I decided to shift my focus, emerge from my cave, and turn my face towards the sun.

The benefits of deep breathing during pregnancy

One of the biggest physiological changes relating to breathing, during pregnancy, is a blood volume increase, up to fifty percent. This means that there is proportionately less hemoglobin and that the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood is reduced causing breathlessness. Additionally, the heart rate increases so that the body can circulate the increased blood volume. When the expectant mother becomes fully aware of her breathing, she can reverse some of these negative physiological changes in her body.

10k Uphill Running Experience

Being comfortable is nice, doing things you're good at is easy, and never failing is a sign of success. Or is it? Staying inside the borders of our comfort zone makes us feel like we have it all under control; life feels like taking a walk in the park with all the potential dangers and challenges swept away somewhere outside of our comfy bubble. It's very humane to want to spend time in this zone because it makes us feel more secure and in control of things.

Sit up straight! But why? Read on to find out.

Do you remember from your childhood how your mother, teacher, aunt, and many other adults always said: SIT UP STRAIGHT? I do and I also remember how annoying it felt to be constantly reminded of how to sit but now I know that these adults had a point and good intentions in their minds. Now I’m going to explain to You, why you should care how you sit and why it is important to maintain mobility in this naturally more rigid part of the spine.

The Magic of Meditation

In our modern society, the tempo is fast, the pressure to achieve is enormous, and the flood of information is heavy. There is a constant barrage of sights, smells, and sounds. Oftentimes our daily life can feel like we're running a marathon. Always on the go with hundreds of things running through our minds. It's no wonder that the stress-related fight or flight system inside us has been activated to the point of overload.

Postnatal Yoga

Becoming a mother, no matter if it’s first, second, or more times, is a life changing experience and the first months with a newborn baby can be intense. During this time it’s easy that the mother puts her own wellbeing aside and concentrates 100% to her baby. While there’s no doubt that babies should receive their mother’s undivided attention, love, and care, it’s as important that the mother takes care of herself as well.

Balancing the nervous system through our senses

We are continuously influenced by our environment. Our modern life often is fast paced and the amount of information our senses receive is huge! This leads to an overload of challenging situations and lessens the comforting circumstances. When this balance between pressure and calm, stress and relaxation is disturbed we loose the sense of inner equanimity.

It’s springtime baby! Have you noticed how nature is becoming alive? Surya Namaskar, and why it should be a part of your life.

In my opinion, this sequence is a lifesaver for all people living in our modern society that is based on long hours seated in front of a computer screen. 5000 years ago, or even only 100 years ago, life was naturally moving human bodies in their everyday lives. Nowadays, different kinds of vehicles are moving us from one place to another which drastically reduces the steps taken by our very own feet a day.

Calm the mind through the practice of restorative yoga and conscious breathing.

We live in a world of constant stimulation. Our senses are repeatedly bombarded with information, noise, lights, opinions. Just by opening our phone we suddenly have the whole world in front of us pushing its news, facts, and so-called truths into our awareness. Our mind immediately starts to process all this data and create its own stories and beliefs.

Yoga retreat in Spain in October 2021

I was beyond excited when my dear friend and yoga teacher Tove Palmgren announced her big news: WE’RE GOING TO SPAIN! Last year, right before the Covid-19 craziness truly began in Europe, I had a great honor to assist her at her annual yoga retreat in Centro Santillan in Malaga. After all the uncertainties brought by the global pandemic, she finally announced the dates for this year’s yoga retreat and asked me again to join her. So amazing!

Six benefits of practicing yoga online.

Online yoga stormed into our lives with the speed and intensity of a massive wave last year and it looks like it will continue its success story in the year 2021 as well. Practicing yoga online isn’t a new concept, I was taking online yoga classes already 10 years ago, but after Covid-19 put our lives upside down and sort of forced us all to find new ways of working out, online yoga became part of daily life for many of us.

Pregnancy Yoga with a Beautiful Feeling

Sunny Sunday with a feeling of fall in the air. Kids were out with their dad and I got to enjoy a few hours of precious yoga time in total peace and silence. It's a rare luxury these days to have some hours just for me. But you know what, I appreciate these moments a lot more than I used to when I had more time to work and practice just by myself. I've noticed that I'm a lot more efficient nowadays. When you have only a few hours in a day to do what you have to do, you become more creative and productive.
